Accidents are going to happen! Your children are going to have silly accidents while they are growing up! Accidents sometimes just can not be avoided. As a Realtor, accidents can be very dangerous and deadly! We, as Realtors, are in a profession that requires us to be in our vehicles most of the day and with all of the new technology it is so easy to say to yourself - I am only going to send this one picture to my client and then I will concentrate totally on the road! If you happen to rear end another car while you are not concentrating 100 percent on driving - you can injure someone and possibly kill them. You know what you will more than likely say - IT WAS AN ACCIDENT! If they can prove you were sending information to someone else while you were driving then you might have to call it MURDER! Our lives or others can be changed so fast!

I am done talking about what we can do. Now, I want to draw your attention to other drivers behind the wheel. Winter is in full attack and we have got to be aware of our surroundings. Semi trucks, dump trucks and garbage trucks can be your worst nightmare come true. Realtors are not the only drivers on the road with distractions. Every driver on the road has things on their mind and technology at his or her fingertips. Can you imagine a truck driver with a full load on his truck in slippery conditions - not giving his full attention to the road? His stopping distance at 55 mph is probably about 50 yards if not more - that is half of a football field. A garbage truck driver that is concentrating on getting his job done quickly so he might be able to go home early - might not have his full concentration on driving safely!

The family in this car was very lucky by the looks of the accident because the truck was able to stop before it ran completely over the top.
*Here are some suggestions that you can practice while working from your car as a Realtor or at any time you are behind the wheel.*
Before you start your car always think about how terrible you would feel if some driver was not concentrating 100 percent on the road and killed someone you loved dearly!
Wear your Seatbelt
Say to yourself before putting your car in drive - Accidents can be avoided!
Always be aware of your surroundings

Do not slam on your breaks or stop all of the sudden with a LARGE TRUCK directly behind you. The truck driver can not read your mind and might not be able to stop before he runs over the top of your vehicle. This includes using extreme caution at yellow lights that are getting ready to turn red. A truck driver might think you are going to proceed thru the yellow light when all of a sudden you make a complete stop. BE CAREFUL!!
Keep a safe distance from cars in front of you and behind you
